Rhonda Schafer-McLean, MD/PhD
Dr. Schafer-McLean joined Mid Dakota Clinic PrimeCare in July 2009 as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology.
A native of Wilton, N.D., Dr. Schafer-McLean received an undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. Following postgraduate work at Texas A&M University and Bismarck State College, she went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy in anatomy and cellular biology and a Doctor of Medicine at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks. Dr. Schafer-McLean completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver where she received the OB/GYN Teaching Award.
In addition to general and high-risk obstetrics, Dr. Schafer-McLean's professional interests include laparoscopic hysterectomy, minimally invasive surgery to correct abnormal gynecologic bleeding, and procedures to correct unwanted loss of urine. She is also certified in multiple office procedures to treat abnormal bleeding, unwanted fertility/sterilization and procedures associated with infertility assessment and treatment. Dr. Schafer-McLean is trained in laparoscopic as well as robotic surgery.
Dr. Schafer-McLean is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is actively affiliated with multiple local and national professional organizations. She maintains a license to practice in her home state of North Dakota.
